Established in 1983, Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) is an autonomous medical institute located in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. It serves as a premier center for medical education, advanced research, and specialized patient care in North India.

SKIMS functions as a tertiary care hospital with over 65 super-specialty departments, providing comprehensive healthcare services to the people of Jammu & Kashmir and neighboring regions. The institute is recognized for its excellence in Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Nephrology, and Organ Transplantation.

Our mission is to deliver world-class medical care, foster medical education, and conduct innovative research to address the unique health challenges of our region. Medical Research & Innovation

SKIMS is at the forefront of medical research in North India, with over 200 ongoing research projects in various specialties. Our research focuses on region-specific health issues including high-altitude medicine, cardiovascular diseases in Kashmiri population, and infectious diseases prevalent in the valley.

The institute publishes over 300 research papers annually in national and international journals. Our researchers have received numerous awards and grants from ICMR, DBT, and other funding agencies.
